Today L.E. begs the indulgence of his Superior Readers as he wallows in self pity, self indulgence and overwhelming grief.
"The Dog," Charger Bogart Humphrey B.
August 17, 1994-April 3, 2008.
An hour or so ago "The Dog" was put to sleep upon discovery that a large tumor in her stomach was the likely cause of her symptoms and discomfort and recovery was extremely unlikely.
L.E. and wife were with her before and while the drugs took effect which ended her life.
"The Dog" enjoyed a great life and was spoiled throughout. She chased many a cat and ate many small pieces of Cheddar cheese which she became addicted to. She even attempted to learn to drive L.E.'s motor home, but was unsuccessful in that endeavour.
She was an avid soccer player in her youth and was trained by our daughter, Miranda to be a superior player of that sport. Beckham would likely have been proud to play alongside her.
Pure land Buddhist philosophy ( and that of many religions)essentially provide that we do as little harm as possible to others during our time on earth. It is also widely recognized that life is mainly filled with misery and we should, therefore, enjoy the brief moments of joy when we encounter them. L.E.and his family enjoyed many joyful moments with "The Dog." She is sorely missed.
L.E. thanks you all sincerely in anticipation of your indulgence regarding today's post and he will be back to speed tomorrow.
Special thanks to Dr.'s Scott and Ann & all the staff (particularly Vickie the groomer) of the Ark Animal clinic who have endured "The Dog's" occasional attempts (and some success) to bite them during treatment at their offices.
Their professionalism and empathy during these past few days is greatly and gratefully appreciated by L.E. and his wife.
